Return to Campus Updates

A quick recap of the newest RTC updates as laid out by recent administrative communication.

Dec 12, 2021

Access to A6
Beginning November 21, the south doors of A6 will be open to the public for campus entry and exit from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday through Thursday. During normal business hours, the NYUAD Bookstore will be accessible to the general public through the south doors of the A6 building.
Access will be controlled by a Public Safety officer. Anyone desiring to enter must display a green Al Hosn pass, submit to a temperature check and produce a valid NYU ID card. Visitors to the Bookstore are not required to present identification.
Babysitting Permitted For Undergraduate Students
In buildings A4 and A3, undergraduate students are now permitted to babysit. The RTC Committee urges that procedures are followed: residents who want to use childcare in A3 and A4 should contact the Graduate Postdoctoral Programs Office (GPPO) for permission to share the student's information, and Public Safety should be notified of access dates for students via the GPPO.
Water Fountains Across Campus
Our community is able to use the water fountains across campus beginning Sunday, November 28. Community members should remember to cleanse the water fountain after each use using the sanitization kits located above each water fountain.
Ease of Access of C2 (highline level) and Level 3 Terrace
Community members can access and exit C2 via the Highline East and West glass doors beginning November 28, due to changes in the risk level and some limitations being eased.
The Omicron Covid-19 Variant
Omicron, a severely mutated form of the COVID-19 virus, was discovered and spread throughout numerous countries a few weeks ago. Scientists are still learning more about the variation, and other nations have restricted their borders partially or completely. The RTC Committee asks community members to follow all public health rules and precautions as we wait for answers from experts and subsequent instructions from health regulators on the Omicron COVID-19 variant. On the Intranet or Student Portal, read Vice Chancellor Mariët Westermann's full message about the Omicron COVID-19 variant.
Free Testing on Campus
Members of the NYUAD community will now be able to get a free PCR test every week on campus, starting Nov. 30. For the remainder of the semester, this option will be available. Starting Dec. 5, the general testing required to keep Al Hosn's green pass will be done every 14 days. The testing site remains to be the C2 West Forum for the time being due to expected increase in volume. Hours remain Sunday to Thursday 9am to 5pm.
